Lexus mouse redux

I got a Lexus HS loaner again, and noticed something that I missed previously. The Lexmouse includes a force feedback. But it does not merely vibrate. Instead, it has resistance programmed into it so that the user can navigate the UI items without the need to point precisely as with computer mouse. This is somewhat similar to edge resistence in Linux window managers, such as Metacity. The precise pointing remains available, too. I didn't know about it when I addressed J's complaints, but this is even more awesome.

1 Hmmm, never saw that response. I would say that it misstates my major complaint, which was not that you take your eyes off the road to use it (duh), but that the combination of the natural-hand-rest positioning and the active cursor encourages you to fiddle with it while driving. Having a modal UI with the same button in different places in different modes is just icing on the distraction-cake.

The Camry Hybrid has a much more sensible button-and-touchscreen control set, he says, revealing last week's secret purchase.
