Ronnie Kole at Spencer Theater yeasterday

Cliff Notes version.

Spencer is located not quite in the middle of nowhere. It's surrounded by ranchos and ranchettes, Taos-like. Driving time from Albuquerque by Google 3 hours 50 minutes, actual 2 hours 35 minutes (speeding). Watch for weather. Main benefactor Jackie Spencer died in 2003, not sure how well museum can continue. Mattisse in men's restroom 2F.

Ronnie Kole is getting old but still good. A real jazz legend, most in his element when keeping it to jazz, blues, etc. The medley is kinda meh, but I guess he wanted community-building.

The generation gap and the culture gap with the public are enormous. I don't know any of the songs they sing along (mostly Christmas). I recognize Irving Berlin's "I'm waiting for the white christmas", but I don't know words. As for Frank Sinatra, ugh... Who is he? Also, lots of NM folks with their hats etc.

UPDATE: Someone else liked the medley:

The most impressive part was after intermission. Ronnie went around the audience and asked for requests. People got silly and asked for Rachmaninoff and even chop sticks... He did them all!! Ronnie did a 20 minute segment weaving all of the requests into an amazing set.
