flying: Pattern Work

I generally do not use GPS in flight except for instructional purposes. Here is my track overlaid over Google Maps:

Man, these some ugly patterns. Also, the right pattern is almost one half as narrow as the left one!

An eagle-eyed reader might notice that arrival and departure are in different directions. Winds were calm (on the surface -- blowing about 10 to 15 from 280 a 1000 ft up), so tower asked me to make a 180 on the runway.
